Last June 4, 2019, The Daily Show actors and comedian Hasan Minhaj along with co-star Jessica Williams hosted the annual CFDA Fashion Awards.

The CFDA is not an ordinary awards night, attended by big names in the runway business, and this significant event happened at The Big Apple, New York City. Specifically, The Brooklyn Museum. The 122-year-old building was filled with prominent fashion icons like Vera Wang, Michael Kors, and Christian Siriano, to name a few.

The highly anticipated fashion awards night, which has been taking place since 1981, is a yearly event held to recognize the contributions made to the fashion industry by celebrated and rising designers, fashion journalists, stylists, and models.

Names that Marked in 2019 CFDA Awards Night, NY

Brandon Maxwell, 34, won the designer of the Year award. Maxwell is famous for dressing celebs like Lady Gaga and Supermodels in the market.

While Pop-star Jennifer Lopez bagged the Fashion Icon award. The award-winning actress, also proved that she’s worthy of the title by showing off the custom red Ralph Lauren gown that featured a glittering crop top and matching the skirt with a statement train.

Mary-Kate and Ashley received the Accessory Designer of the Year award for the luxury label they founded, The Row. From being teen stars, these twins have gone far indeed, now becoming award-winning fashion celebrities.

Also present at the event Appeared were the Hadid siblings accompanied by their high-profile companions. The very well-known Michael Kors stepped in the event with Bella Hadid who’s wearing a black plunging dress matched with a 75-carat Lorraine Schwartz emerald-cut diamond earrings. Bella’s Sister, Gigi Hadid, was wearing sky blue Louis Vuitton and accompanied by the influential designer and Dj Virgil Abloh.

New CFDA Chairman, Tom Ford

Aside from having seen the beautiful outfits worn by celebrities, it is also heartwarming to see Von Furstenberg passed on the baton to Tom Ford as the new head of CFDA.

“In fashion, we are about glamorous entrances, but beautiful exits are equally important. I could not have wished for a better exit, a more glamorous upgrade, and a better successor than Tom Ford.” – Von Furstenberg, 72, said.

Tom Ford acknowledge the 13 years legacy of Von Furstenberg by surprising her with a little tribute before transferring the organization’s leadership to him.
